Happy 1st Birthday!
We are excited to celebrate the one year anniversary of People’s Circus Theatre! People keep saying, “Only one year? It feels like longer.” Because the seeds of People’s Circus Theatre were planted years before it began to blossom. From my solo show Cara Vita: A Clown Concerto to our online production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in lockdown to Circus Pop Ups as we emerged from the pandemic, these projects are the roots of PCT. The Secret Garden, which was produced through Circus Center, was our first opportunity to fully share our visionary style with the Bay Area. This success led us to officially launch People’s Circus Theatre in September 2024.
In our first year, we premiered our holiday show Reindeer Games at Children’s Creativity Museum. We spent the rest of the year preparing and growing: applying for grants, getting set up to employ artists, training circus skills, and writing The Nightingale. As we hit this first milestone, we are happy to be deeply immersed in creation for our new show The Nightingale with more than 20 local artists.
Countless people and organizations have helped make it possible for People’s Circus Theatre to take our first steps:
the organizations who have given us space and equipment
the people who have volunteered their time to help us learn and grow as a business
the artists who who have performed, created, taught, designed, and trained
the audiences who have come to see us perform
the donors who have generously given financial support.
Thank you for being a part of this magical first year! Here’s to many more!
