A Tribute to Zephaniah Bensaid
It is with mixed emotions that we say farewell to a dear member of our People’s Circus Theatre community, Zephaniah Bensaid. Zeph is moving to Chicago to continue pursuing a career behind the scenes in the theater and circus. Chicago is a great city for this, and the performing arts community there will be lucky to gain a superstar like Zeph.
Zeph was one of the first people to enthusiastically join PCT, and they have been an essential member of the team ever since. Zeph’s work wasn’t always visible to audiences, but it ran through every aspect of our productions. From setting up mats to pulling lines for aerialists to programming sound cues to organizing backstage to calling cues to mopping the floor before each show…Zeph did all of the jobs, big and small, with care and dedication.
On top of being the most incredible all around Production Assistant, Zeph is a thoughtful artist and a dear friend. We will miss seeing Zeph embroidering delicate lace creations during rehearsal breaks and swooshing through the backstage in their long skirt as they make sure everyone is in places. And it’s tough to imagine doing Reindeer Games without our “Frosty the Stagehand.”
But we are so excited for you in your next adventure, Zeph. You will bring your humor, love, and expertise to everything you do in Chicago. Know that whenever you are ready to come back, we will have a cup of tea and a roll of spike tape waiting for you. See you down the road, Zeph!
